About

Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Lauren Born studied Textile and Apparel Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon completion of her BA, she moved to New York City where she continued to hone her skills in the area of Textile Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

While in school, her work was featured in European trade magazines Passion and Aesthetica, as well as on television shows including Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed. She earned numerous awards in student exhibitions, as well as the prestigious Graduation Award from the Textile/Surface Design Department at FIT.

Upon graduation, Lauren worked for Martha Stewart Omnimedia as a Stylist for Living and Martha Stewart Kids. She went on to become a Print & Color Designer at Victoria’s Secret Design Studio, as a member of their Color and Concept team. She later held the title of Creative Director for Komar Sleepwear, where she directed and managed all creative components of Donna Nadeau, a line of sleepwear launched at Nordstrom and Dillards in the Fall of 2006.

Having enjoyed the process, excitement, and challenges of launching a brand, Lauren next applied this knowledge to creating her own line of contemporary women’s tops, called “Lemondrop”, which was carried in SAKS and Macy’s countrywide.

She most recently held the title of Design Consultant for Jessica Simpson Swimwear, focusing on trend direction, color and print for the Spring ’07 launch and beyond.

Throughout her career, Lauren has continuously worked on special projects for private clients relating to textile design for home products as well as for apparel. Much of her professional success as a textile designer stems from her flexible approach and fine attention to detail.
